How to Find Your EPIC (Voter ID) Number Online
Lost your voter card or just can’t recall your EPIC number? You can find it free in a minute using the official Electoral Search, by your name, your registered mobile, or if you already have the number, to confirm your record. Here’s exactly how.
What Is the EPIC Number?
The EPIC number is the 10-character alphanumeric code printed in bold on the front of your Voter ID (for example, ABC1234567). EPIC stands for Electors Photo Identity Card, which is the official name of the voter ID itself.
You need this number for most voter services: to download your e-EPIC, confirm your name on the roll, or reference your record. If you’ve lost the card, the search methods below get you the number back without any fee.
Method 1: Search by Details (If You Don’t Know the Number)
This is the one to use when you’ve lost the card and don’t remember the number.
- Go to
electoralsearch.eci.gov.in(or click Search in Electoral Roll on voters.eci.gov.in). - Choose the Search by Details tab.
- Enter your name, relative’s (father’s/husband’s) name, date of birth or age, and gender.
- Select your state, district, and Assembly Constituency, then enter the captcha.
- Click Search. If your record is found, it appears with your EPIC number, polling station, and part/serial number.
Method 2: Search by Mobile Number
Fast and simple, but only works if your mobile is registered against your voter record.
- On
electoralsearch.eci.gov.in, choose the Search by Mobile tab. - Select your state and language, enter your registered mobile number and captcha.
- Request and enter the OTP sent to that number.
- Your voter record, including the EPIC number, appears once verified.
Method 3: Search by EPIC (To Confirm Your Record)
Use this when you already have the number and just want to verify your details on the roll. To see your full booth listing, you can also download the electoral roll PDF.
- On the Electoral Search page, choose Search by EPIC.
- Enter your 10-character EPIC number and select your state.
- Enter the captcha and click Search.
- Your record appears, confirming your name is on the roll along with your constituency and polling details.
ECI <space> EPIC number to 1950, and you’ll get your voter details by reply. Standard SMS charges apply.
If Your Name Isn’t Found
An empty result doesn’t always mean you’re not registered. Common reasons and what to do:
- Spelling or transliteration mismatch: try name variations, or search by mobile instead.
- Wrong constituency selected: make sure you’re searching the state/district where you’re actually registered.
- Name removed during a revision: during a Special Intensive Revision (SIR), rolls are cleaned and some entries are dropped. If yours is genuinely missing, file Form 6 for inclusion, or Form 8 to correct an existing entry.
- Never registered: if you’ve turned 18 and never enrolled, apply with Form 6.

Common Questions
Is finding my EPIC number free?
Yes, entirely free on electoralsearch.eci.gov.in and by SMS to 1950. No login or payment is needed to search by details or EPIC. Anyone charging to “find your voter ID number” is not an official channel.
I found my record, can I download the card now?
Yes. Once you have your EPIC number, head to the e-EPIC download section, log in, and download your digital voter ID as a PDF, also free.
What details show up in the search result?
Your name, EPIC number, Assembly Constituency, part number, serial number, and polling station. Note the part and serial number, they’re useful to locate your entry quickly on election day.
My mobile isn’t registered, how else can I find my EPIC?
Use Search by Details with your name and personal information, no mobile needed. Once you have the number, you can update your mobile against your record with Form 8 so OTP-based services work in future.
