Aadhaar Card Guides & Services

Everything you need to apply for, update, download and manage your Aadhaar Card, explained in simple, step-by-step guides using official resources.

A few things to know

You will always need your Aadhaar linked to an active mobile number to download your card or use most online services, since UIDAI sends an OTP to verify it is really you. If your number has changed, start with the mobile update guide first.

UIDAI myAadhaar Portal Login Process

Step
What to do
1. Visit the portal
2. Click Login
Select the Login button
3. Enter Aadhaar
Type your 12-digit number and captcha
4. Get OTP
OTP is sent to your registered mobile
5. Verify
Enter the OTP to access your dashboard

You must have your current registered mobile number to receive the OTP. If your number has changed, update it first at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra before you can log in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a downloaded e-Aadhaar as valid as the printed card?

Yes. A downloaded e-Aadhaar from the official UIDAI portal is legally valid everywhere and is treated on par with the printed Aadhaar letter. It carries a secure digital signature and QR code that any service provider can verify.

What is the UIDAI helpline number?

UIDAI’s official toll-free helpline is 1947. For helpline hours, how to complain and UIDAI offices, see our UIDAI guide.

How do I log in to the myAadhaar portal?

Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, click Login, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the captcha, then verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. No password is needed.

How much does it cost to update Aadhaar?

Online document updates on the myAadhaar portal are free until 14 June 2027. A demographic update at a centre costs around Rs 75, and a biometric update costs around Rs 125. New enrolment and downloading your e-Aadhaar are always free.

Can I update my Aadhaar without a registered mobile number?

Most online services need a registered mobile number for OTP verification. If you do not have one, you must visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra in person, where your request is verified using your biometrics instead of an OTP.

What is the password to open my e-Aadhaar PDF?

The password is the first 4 letters of your name in capital letters, followed by your birth year in YYYY format. For example, for AMIT KUMAR born in 1995, the password is AMIT1995.

Is the myAadhaar portal the only official website?

Yes. The genuine portal is uidai.gov.in and its myAadhaar section at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Avoid lookalike websites that ask for payment or personal details, as UIDAI never charges for downloading your e-Aadhaar.

What is a masked Aadhaar and when should I use it?

A masked Aadhaar hides the first 8 digits of your number, showing only the last 4. It is fully valid and is safer to share with hotels, private companies, or anyone who does not need your full number.
