How to Book an Aadhaar Appointment & Find a Seva Kendra
Skip the queue. Book a free Aadhaar appointment online for enrolment or updates, and use the official locator to find your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra, step by step.
Where Online Booking Actually Works
Online appointments are only for UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs), the large, air-conditioned, Passport-Seva-style centres. These currently operate in a limited number of districts.
Smaller centres inside banks, post offices, and government offices usually run on a walk-in basis and can’t be booked online. So if there’s no ASK near you, don’t worry, you can still walk in to a registrar centre; you just won’t get a pre-booked slot. Use the locator in the second half of this guide to see what’s available near you.
Booking an Appointment Online
- Visit the portal: go to the official appointment site at
bookappointment.uidai.gov.in, or reach it via the myAadhaar portal. (Note: the mAadhaar app does not support booking, use a web browser.) - Select your location: choose your city from the drop-down, then click Proceed to Book Appointment.
- Enter mobile number: input your number, solve the captcha, and click Generate OTP.
- Log in: enter the OTP received on your phone.
- Choose service type: select New Enrolment or Update Aadhaar.
- Enter details: fill in what’s asked, such as your name, Aadhaar number for updates, or the specific fields you’re updating.
- Pick centre and slot: search by PIN code or the Nearby option, then choose an available date and time. Slots usually open a few days in advance.
- Review and confirm: check your choices, note that fees are paid at the counter, and confirm.
- Print the slip: download and print your appointment slip, and carry it with your original documents to the centre.
Finding an Aadhaar Centre Near You
Prefer a walk-in, or want to confirm your booked centre’s address? UIDAI official locator covers every type of centre, not just ASKs.
- Open the locator: go to
Bhuvan Aadhaar, UIDAI’s official centre finder. - Search your way: by state, district, and PIN code; by centre name or landmark; or by allowing location access to see the nearest centres instantly.
- Filter by type: spot which centres handle full enrolment and updates versus dedicated UIDAI-run Seva Kendras.
Common Questions
Is booking an Aadhaar appointment free?
Yes, booking is always free. The only money you pay is the service fee at the counter, and only for updates, since new enrolment is free. Anyone charging you just to book a slot is running a scam.
There’s no online slot near me. What do I do?
Online booking only covers UIDAI-run Seva Kendras, which aren’t in every district yet. If none show up near you, use the Bhuvan locator to find a walk-in registrar centre at a bank, post office, or government office instead.
Do I still need my documents if I’ve booked online?
Yes. An appointment only reserves your slot, it doesn’t replace verification. Carry your printed appointment slip along with the original documents required for your service, or you’ll be turned away.
Trouble Booking?
If a slot won’t confirm or the locator isn’t loading, UIDAI’s helpline 1947 is available 24/7. Every official portal and contact is listed on our quick reference page.
