Quick Guide

Guide to Ordering Your Aadhaar PVC Card

Swap your paper printout for the official pocket-sized PVC card. Learn how to order it, pay, and track it right to your doorstep.

Need-to-Know Details & Pricing

  • The cost: the official fee for the PVC card is ₹75. This is a flat, all-inclusive rate covering both GST and India Post Speed Post delivery.
  • Delivery timeline: UIDAI prints and hands the card to the post office within 5 working days. It is then shipped to the address registered on your Aadhaar profile.
  • No registered mobile? No problem: you do not need the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar to place an order. Any active phone number can receive the verification OTP.

Before You Order: Check Your Address

Your PVC card is shipped to whatever address is currently on your Aadhaar record, not the address you’re ordering from. If you have moved recently and haven’t updated it, the card will go to your old address instead.

Take a minute to confirm your current address on the portal before placing the order. If it’s outdated, follow our address update guide first, since a demographic update typically needs to be processed before it reflects on a fresh PVC order.

How to Order Your PVC Card Online

Note: this process needs OTP verification, but not necessarily on your Aadhaar-registered number. If that number is no longer active, you can choose to verify using an alternate mobile number instead.
  1. Visit the portal: go to the official UIDAI portal at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Access the login screen: click the main Login button.
  3. Enter credentials: input your 12-digit Aadhaar Number and the security captcha code.
  4. Verify via OTP: generate the OTP, enter the 6-digit code sent to your mobile number, and click Login.
  5. Start the order: inside your dashboard, select the Order Aadhaar PVC Card service tile.
  6. Review & pay: your details are pre-filled for preview. Make the ₹75 payment using UPI, Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or Paytm.
  7. Save your receipt: download the acknowledgment slip and keep your 14-digit Service Request Number (SRN) safe, as you will need it to track delivery.

How to Track Your PVC Card Status

Once you have placed your order, tracking its progress is simple.

  1. Head back to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Select the Check Aadhaar PVC Card Status option.
  3. Enter your 14-digit SRN and the on-screen captcha.
  4. Click Submit to see real-time updates. Once dispatched, the system provides an Airway Bill (AWB) number, which you can use to track the physical delivery on the India Post website.

If Your Card Is Delayed, Damaged, or Never Arrives

  • Delayed beyond the timeline: if it’s been well over the expected delivery window and tracking hasn’t updated, call the UIDAI helpline with your SRN ready. They can check whether it was dispatched or is stuck at printing.
  • Damaged or defective on arrival: a card that’s cracked, has a printing error, or doesn’t scan correctly can be reordered by placing a fresh request and paying the fee again. There is no free replacement for delivery damage.
  • Not in a rush? Remember the PVC card is a convenience, not a requirement. Your e-Aadhaar PDF is free, instant, and carries the same legal validity, so you’re not stuck without valid ID while the physical card is in transit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order a masked Aadhaar PVC card?

No. UIDAI only issues the PVC card with your full, regular Aadhaar number printed on it. If you want a masked version showing only the last 4 digits, that’s available exclusively as a downloadable e-Aadhaar PDF, not as a physical PVC card.

How many times can I order a PVC card?

There’s no fixed limit. You can reorder any time your details change, or if a card is lost or damaged, and each order requires the ₹75 fee again. The one restriction is that only one order can be “in process” per Aadhaar at a time, so a second order is blocked until the current one is completed or cancelled.

Is ordering a PVC card mandatory?

No, it’s entirely optional. Your original paper Aadhaar and a downloaded e-Aadhaar PDF carry the same legal validity as the PVC card. The PVC version simply offers more durability and a wallet-friendly size for daily use.

Can I get a PVC card at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra?

No. The PVC card is an online-only service and must be ordered through the myAadhaar portal or the Aadhaar app. A Seva Kendra can print a coloured paper Aadhaar for a small fee, but that is not the same durable plastic PVC card.

Still Stuck?

For order or delivery problems, UIDAI’s toll-free helpline 1947 runs 24/7. You can also browse the full list of official Aadhaar contacts and links.
