Aadhaar PDF Password Finder
Downloaded your e-Aadhaar and can’t open the PDF? Get the exact password in seconds. Works entirely in your browser, nothing is saved or sent.
Enter your details
Password = first 4 letters of your name (CAPITALS) + birth year. Enter them exactly as printed on your Aadhaar.
What this password is
When you download your Aadhaar from UIDAI or the mAadhaar app, it comes as a password-protected PDF, a security step so your details stay locked even if the file is shared. You don’t choose this password and can’t change it; it follows one fixed UIDAI rule, the same for everyone in India.
How to open your e-Aadhaar PDF
- Open the file in any PDF reader, your phone’s viewer, Adobe Reader, or a browser.
- Type the password when prompted: 4 name letters in capitals, then your birth year, no space between.
- Use uppercase — the password is case-sensitive, so turn Caps Lock on.
- Press Enter and the PDF opens with your Aadhaar details.
Examples
| Name on Aadhaar | Birth year | Password |
|---|---|---|
| Suresh Kumar | 1990 | SURE1990 |
| Alia Chaudhary | 1980 | ALIA1980 |
| Ram Kumar | 1989 | RAMK1989 |
| Sai (short name) | 1995 | SAI1995 |
If the password doesn’t work
Work through these in order, one almost always fixes it:
- Check for uppercase — a lowercase entry is rejected.
- Use only the birth year (e.g. 1990), never the full date.
- Match the name exactly as on your Aadhaar — a different spelling, missing initial, or changed order will block it.
- Mind short names — under 4 letters, use the whole name plus year.
- Re-download the file from UIDAI if it still won’t open; a fresh copy often clears a corrupted download.
Common questions
Can I change my e-Aadhaar PDF password?
No. The format is fixed by UIDAI and identical for every holder, first 4 letters of your name in capitals plus your birth year. You cannot set a custom password on the downloaded PDF.
Why is my Aadhaar PDF asking for a password?
UIDAI protects the file with a password so your personal details stay secure even if it’s shared. It’s a security feature, not an error, and the file is not corrupted.
My name has only 3 letters. What’s my password?
Use your whole name in capitals plus your birth year. For example, “Sai” born in 1995 gives SAI1995. It’s not padded to reach 8 characters.
Is it safe to enter my details here?
Yes. The tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your name and birth year are used only on your own device, nothing is uploaded, saved or sent to any server.
Which name do I use if my card differs from my usual name?
Always use the name exactly as printed on your Aadhaar card, including spelling and word order. The password comes from the registered name, not the one you normally use.
